The Sandbar Myrtle Beach
At the heart of the park, you’ll find meticulously preserved aircraft on static display, including the A-10 Thunderbolt II, the F-100 Super Sabre, and the A-7 Corsair II. Each of these planes played a significant role during their time in service and serves as a testament to the advancements in military aviation. Informative plaques accompany each aircraft, providing insights into their history and contributions.
Atlas Obscura
Beyond the aircraft, Warbird Park features the Wall of Service, a commemorative wall honoring military and civilian personnel who served at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base from 1941 until its closure in 1993. The park also houses the World War II Memorial, dedicated in November 2023, which pays homage to the bravery and sacrifices of those who served during the war. Visitors can reflect amidst the serene surroundings, making it a meaningful stop for history enthusiasts and those wishing to honor the legacy of American service members.
